വറ്റിവരളവേ, മണ്ണു തപിയ്കവേ
മക്കളേ, ദൈവത്തെ, യമ്മയെ കൂടിയും
വിറ്റു കാശാക്കിയീ ഞങ്ങൾ മുന്നേറവേ
വേട്ടയ്കിറങ്ങിയോർ തൊട്ടടുത്തെത്തവേ
നീട്ടിയ തോക്കിൻെറ മുൻപിലതിദൂരമോടിത്തളർന്ന
മാൻപോലെ 'നിശ്ശബ്ദയാം കാട്"
കിതച്ചു കാതോർത്തു നിന്നീടവേ............

JONAS SALK

October 28, the 100th birth anniversary of the man who created World's first polio vaccine- Jonas Salk. He was borne in NewYork on October 28, 1914. 

Jonas salk thought to have chosen polio as his target as the disease was threatening to become an epidemic in America post World War II. Every year the disease would claim more lives and lead to varying degrees of paralysis in a larger number of people. This disease was particularly devasting because it primarly affected children.

Preliminary testing of the polio vaccine began in 1952. The testing expanded over the next two years, making it one of the largest clinical trials in the medical history. Roughly 2 million children were given the vaccine during the test phase. Salk's effort were supported and promoted by the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis. The vaccine was approved for general use in 1955.

Salk died in La Jolla, California on June 23, 1995.

One day a rich dad took his son on a trip to village. He wanted to show him how poor someone can be. they spent time on the farm of a poor family.
Dad asked, "Did you see how poor they are? What did you learn?"
Son said, "We have one dog, they have four,
                  We have pool, they have rivers,
                   We have lanterns at night, they have stars,
                   We buy food, they grow theirs,
                    We have walls to protect us, they have friends,
                     We have encyclopaedias, they have Bible"
Then they headed,
"Thanks dad for showing me how poor we are."


IT IS NOT ABOUT MONEY THAT MAKE US RICH, IT'S ABOUT SIMPLICITY OF HAVING GOD IN OUR LIVES.
